The CBI Book Club will meet over Zoom for a discussion about Little Bird with author (and Berkshire resident) Barbara Viniar! Little Bird is the story of a girl – Barbara’s very own grandmother – who finds the courage to forge her own path to womanhood, seeking hard-won independence in turn-of-the-century New York City. This online event is free and open to the public.

Please join us for our monthly gathering around the Virtual Shabbat Table! We will gather together to share community and conversation as we celebrate the Jewish traditions of Shabbat, light the candles, and bless the wine and challah. Stay connected with CBI friends and neighbors, or meet new ones, as we enjoy the joys of fellowship and comfort of camaraderie.
Come explore the wisdom of Torah through creative study and art-making! Drawing from the Jewish Studio Project’s creative process, we’ll study a Jewish text and use paint, pastels, and collage to reflect on its meaning, giving expression the themes of Shavuot. This session is intended for adult and teen participants.
Join us as we celebrate receiving Torah anew at Sinai! We'll begin with a short and sweet festival service at 8pm, featuring the voices of our choir and the praise-songs of Hallel. At 9pm, we'll shift gears to a bit of "late-night" Torah learning with A Taste of Torah (and cheesecake) – enjoying both fresh fruit and dairy desserts (traditional for the holiday) as our rabbi and community members teach short lessons on Jewish music, solidarity lessons from the book of Ruth, and more. If you would like to teach on a Jewish subject, or to share a favorite song, story, or poem, let Rabbi Rachel know by Friday, May 15.
Join us for a celebratory art exhibition and reception! Come see Shavuot artwork on display, which were made by our community members this year.
The CBI Book Club will meet over Zoom to discuss This is Not About Us by Allegra Goodman; please note that Love and Shame and Love by Peter Orner will no longer be this month's book club selection. Goodman’s newest novel is a kaleidoscopic portrait of a modern American family — steadfast, complicated, begrudging, and loving — centering on the strained relationship between two sisters. Those who plan on joining us should RSVP via our website; Zoom information will be sent to all who RSVP once the date gets closer.
Join with friends from across the Berkshire Jewish community at Temple Anshe Amunim in Pittsfield as we come together for a musical, family-friendly Shabbat service led by rabbis from across the county, then stay for a delicious, festive oneg. All are welcome to attend this service; please RSVP in advance if you plan to attend the oneg. This event is co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires, Congregation Beth Israel, and other Berkshire county synagogues and organizations.
