Seventh Day of Pesach: Yizkor & Hallel

April 29 @ 10:00 am

7th Day Pesach with Yizkor and Hallel

To join us ONLINE, please click here to register via Zoom.

Join us on Zoom at 10am on Monday, April 29 for a short morning service that will include Yizkor (the memorial prayers said four times a year) and Hallel (the psalms of praise we sing at every festival). Yizkor is recited on the last day of Pesach. Following Reform custom of celebrating seven days of Passover, the seventh day begins Sunday evening and continues through Monday.

If you want to pray the Yizkor prayers on your own at another time, here is the core silent prayer of the Yizkor service:

"May God remember the beloved souls of [my father / my mother / my brother / my sister / my spouse / my partner / my son / my child / my daughter / relatives & friends of my heart] who have gone to their eternity. For the ascent of their souls, I pledge to live justly & lovingly. May their souls be bound in the bond of eternal life with the souls of all our ancestors & with all the righteous in the Garden of Eternity. Amen." And for our difficult relationships, we ask for strength to remember in wholeness – for parents, siblings, partners & children, grandparents, uncles & aunts, teachers & frenemies – because we loved each other, except when we didn't. We pray for gentle memory, & music even if not joy, & comfort even if not repair.

Here is a link to the Yizkor prayers at Sefaria, and here is an online shiva booklet that includes words of the Mourner’s Kaddish, El Maleh Rachamim (“God, Full of Compassion”), and Psalm 23.
May the memories of our loved ones lift us up, this Pesach and always.
