An Extra-Musical Kabbalat Shabbat

Join us for an extraspecial musical Kabbalat Shabbat service co-led by Rabbi Rachel and our new member and cantorial soloist Ziva Larson at 7pm on Friday, July 15.

There’s an ancient tradition of using the six psalms of Kabbalat Shabbat to evoke a musical journey through the six days of the week week, with L’cha Dodi as the triumphant culmination as Shabbat enters our midst. We’ll harness that tradition, singing some familiar melodies and some that may be new to us. (You’ll find videos of some of those melodies below, in case you want to listen during the week.)

As always the songs and prayers of Kabbalat Shabbat will be followed by a short-and-sweet ma’ariv (evening service). Weather permitting, we’ll pray the silent evening Amidah outdoors in our spectacular outdoor “sanctuary” of wetlands, patio, and meditation labyrinth. All are welcome; please join us!
