Shine Your Light — Community Candle Lighting for Chanukah

December 9, 2023 @ 5:00 pm

Fancy text that reads "Celebrate Hanukkah" on a pale blue & white background with various holiday images surrounding it.

Join the Jewish community of NEFESH for a very special Chanukah candle lighting and celebration. We’ll light our new, outdoor, hand-built menorah which families have painted with messages of hope, peace, and respect for all people. We’ll enjoy sufganiyot (Israeli-style donuts) and enjoy a festive community-wide celebration! This event will be held in Bennington, VT. For more information and to RSVP, please contact [email protected].

Funding to help support CBI’s family education programs been provided by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.

The NEFESH menorah project is raising funds for eight local organizations that work to improve lives in our community. All funds will be divided equally among eight local partner organizations in Bennington County and the Berkshires. We welcome donations here via PayPal for the following causes and organizations: Food for All (Grateful Hearts), Homes for All (Bennington Coalition for the Homeless), Children’s Mental Health (Sunrise Family Resource Center), Women’s Safety (PAVE), Refugee Resettlement (Open Arms), Addiction Recovery (Turning Point Recovery Center), LGBTQ+ Support (Elizabeth Freeman Center), and Racial Justice (NAACP).

NEFESH is the Hebrew word for “soul,” “self,” or “living being.” We are a group of families in Southern VT and Western MA raising healthy kids grounded in Jewish community. NEFESH is about nourishing the social and spiritual soil of family life and giving our children a supportive and joyful environment inspired by Jewish culture, traditions and values so that they will grow and thrive in a more just and healthy world.
