Our Erev Rosh Hashanah celebration this year will once again be a Rosh Hashanah seder interwoven with the evening service over Zoom, featuring symbolic foods and drinks to cue up the inner journey of entering the new year. We’ll be joined by Rabbi David Markus and members of Temple Beth El of City Island, as well as friends and family both near and far. Many of you have told us that our Rosh Hashanah seders over the past two years were a meaningful way to launch the new year together from our dining tables. We’re looking forward to being with you on Zoom for that experience again this year.

Please note this service will be held online only. Please join us on Zoom ten minutes before services are scheduled to begin. You do not need a printed book — words will be shown onscreen.

If you are joining us on Zoom on Rosh Hashanah eve, these are the ideal items to have on hand:

• Wine or juice (for four cups or sips)
• Holiday candles
• Bitter / sour / sharp food (e.g. maror, vinegar, a piece of onion)
• Dates (or another sweet tree fruit)
• Pomegranate or pomegranate juice
• Apples and honey
• A challah, roll, or cracker (ideally round)

And if there are items on this list that you can’t find or don’t have, don’t worry about it: we will make it work with whatever we’ve got!
