Please join us for the July meeting of CBI’s Book Group, led by Suzanne Levy Graver, CBI member & Emerita Professor of English Literature at Williams College. We will be discussing Edmund de Waal’s The Hare with Amber Eyes: A Hidden Inheritance, a biography of an art collection and a family that traces the ascent and decline of the Ephrussi, a Jewish dynasty. The book details loss and diaspora and the survival of objects as written by the fifth generation of the family to inherit the collection of art. Set in Tokyo, Great Britain, Paris, and Vienna, it is an amazing story about a work of art that survived through the radical social and political transformations of time. We look forward to your dynamic contribution to our discussion!
Due to forecasted inclement weather, this meeting will be held over Zoom.
