We’ll begin at 6:10pm with a screening of The Path Forward (2024\, 40 minutes\, documentary)\, where we’ll learn about bridge-builders charting a new path for the land they all love. No matter what your politics are around Israel and Palestine\, we think this film offers both realism and hope. DESCRIPTION:Join the CBI choir and musicians for a celebration of the Festival of Lights with music both old and new! As the days wind down toward the winter solstice and the longest night of the year\, Chanukah comes to remind us to take heart and seek the light of hope shining in dark times. Musical selections will include traditional Ashkenazi and Sephardi Chanukah songs as well as contemporary compositions. We’ll close with a family-friendly singalong featuring some favorite Chanukah tunes. \nAfter the concert\, we’ll segue into potluck refreshments\, dreidels and gelt\, and kid-friendly Chanukah arts and crafts. Please bring a contribution for the potluck table; the meal will be dairy / vegetarian / pescatarian\, so no meat please. In addition to RSVPing\, please visit the potluck sign-up page and let us know what you will bring — this will help us assure balance in our potluck offerings so there is something for everyone. \nOur Jewish Journeys students are currently collecting pasta donations for the Berkshire Food Project\, so please bring an unopened box of pasta with you to contribute to our cause. \nAll ages and faiths are welcome to attend this free community event! \nFunding to help support this event has been provided by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.

New York Times reviewer Ayten Tartici writes\, “In Graver’s vision\, migration is never simply a one-way street. Kantika is a meticulous endeavor to preserve the memories of a family\, an elegy and a celebration both.” \nCome talk about Kantika with Elizabeth and her mother\, Suzanne Levy Graver\, who leads CBI’s book club and whose childhood is part of this story.
