DESCRIPTION:The Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is called Shabbat Shuvah — “The Shabbat of Return.” The high holiday season can feel full of words and liturgy. This Shabbat aims to balance that with holy quiet. This year we’ll return to our deepest selves with a gentle contemplative service featuring minimal liturgy\, ample time to let our melodies soak in\, and periods of holy silence to “seal” each chant. Mourner’s Kaddish will be recited in full. \nAll are welcome to join us onsite\, but you must RSVP via our website if you plan on attending. SUMMARY:The Journey of Teshuvah & Runway to the High Holy Days
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a seven-week (and eight-class) journey of preparation for the Days of Awe\, co-taught on Zoom by Rabbi Rachel Barenblat with Rabbi David Evan Markus of Congregation Shir Ami. On seven Tuesday nights from just after Tisha B’Av (August 12) until just before Rosh Hashanah (October 2)\, we’ll meet to discuss Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg’s On Repentance and Repair\, now available in paperback. The reading will also be keyed to the inner journey through seven core qualities we seek to strengthen as we prepare for the new year. We’ll study Rambam’s writings on teshuvah (c. 1176) alongside R. Danya’s book as we each undertake our own journey of repentance and return. \nThe final class will be held in-person only at CBI on Saturday\, October 12 (Yom Kippur) at 3pm — all are welcome to attend\, even if you didn’t attend any of the previous sessions. DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate Chanukah with the CBI community! This year we’re celebrating indoors (no bonfire) due to regional wildfire risk\, but we’ll have just as much joy and music as in years past. We’ll share a homemade meal of pizza\, salad\, and sufganiyot. Activities will include a crafts station (make a gift for a friend\, or sit down with a family member to make a Chanukah craft project to display every year)\, a spirited song circle\, a dreidel spinning contest\, and a recipe swap for latkes / sufganiyot / other festive treats. If you have a beloved recipe\, project\, song or ritual item you’d like to share with others\, let us know by emailing Rabbi Jarah at learning@cbiberkshires.com. All ages and stages are welcome — adults and children\, grandparents\, empty nesters\, or child-free. \nWe are currently in need of thick cardboard tubes for one of our Chanukah projects!
