SUMMARY:Contemplative Shabbat Shuvah Service
DESCRIPTION:The Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is called Shabbat Shuvah — “The Shabbat of Return.” The high holiday season can feel full of words and liturgy. This Shabbat aims to balance that with holy quiet. This year we’ll return to our deepest selves with a gentle contemplative service featuring minimal liturgy\, ample time to let our melodies soak in\, and periods of holy silence to “seal” each chant. Mourner’s Kaddish will be recited in full. \nAll are welcome to join us onsite\, but you must RSVP via our website if you plan on attending. SUMMARY:Simchat Torah Shabbat Family Celebration & Dance Party
DESCRIPTION:Join Rabbi Rachel Barenblat and CBI Community Musicians for a celebration of Simchat Torah (“Rejoicing in the Torah”)\, the culmination of our fall festival season! A short-and-sweet festival ma’ariv (evening service) will have as its centerpiece seven hakafot / circle dances with the Torah. We’ll also hear the very end of Torah followed by the very beginning of Torah\, connecting the end of our sacred scroll with the new year’s new beginnings. We’ll partake in a potluck dinner during the event\, so please bring a vegetarian / dairy dish to share (sign up here). Please RSVP online if your family plans on attending and indicate what dish you’ll bring; this service will be held onsite only. \nThis event is a partnership between Congregation Beth Israel & NEFESH\, with major financial support from Sally Gottesman & the Harold Grinspoon Foundation as well as funding from other private donors.

A kiddush luncheon will follow from 11:30am–3pm\, with a Middle Eastern feast\, live music\, dancing\, and celebration.
