DESCRIPTION:Calling all musical children and parents! Bring your instruments and learn a few musical pieces to play together in the upcoming High Holiday Family Services with Congregation Beth Israel and Nefesh. Instrument players ages 7 and older who are able to follow musical notation or chords are invited to gather with their parents for all three rehearsals. Younger children who do not study an instrument are welcome to join us for our third rehearsal where we’ll integrate rhythm instruments. \nRehearsal gatherings take place at a private home in Lanesborough\, MA and High Holiday services will take place at CBI in North Adams; for further details\, please contact learning@cbiberkshires.com. A full kosher-for-Pesach meal will be provided (with vegetarian option); bring your own kosher for Passover table wine if you would like something other than Manischewitz. \n\n☆ Tickets are $50/adult & $8/child (ages 5-18); children ages 4 & under are free. DESCRIPTION:Due to the impending snowstorm\, our Tu BiShvat Concert has been POSTPONED once more. Our concert will now be held on Sunday\, February 23 at 4:30pm. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused — thank you for understanding! \nCome celebrate the natural world with a musical journey through the four seasons\, following the progression of the Tu BiShvat seder from winter to spring to summer to fall. The CBI choir and instrumentalists will perform music spanning from the medieval period to the 21st century\, expressing the beauty of nature and the human emotions that we experience during each season. Composers who will be featured include Clément Janequin\, Antonio Vivaldi\, Paul Hindemith\, Samuel Barber\, and Naomi Shemer. Light refreshments featuring some of the symbolic fruit and nuts one eats during Tu BiShvat will follow the concert’s conclusion.

This year we’re celebrating indoors (no bonfire) due to regional wildfire risk\, but we’ll have just as much joy and music as in years past. We’ll share a homemade meal of pizza\, salad\, and sufganiyot. Activities will include a crafts station (make a gift for a friend\, or sit down with a family member to make a Chanukah craft project to display every year)\, a spirited song circle\, a dreidel spinning contest\, and a recipe swap for latkes / sufganiyot / other festive treats. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a seven-week (and eight-class) journey of preparation for the Days of Awe\, co-taught on Zoom by Rabbi Rachel Barenblat with Rabbi David Evan Markus of Congregation Shir Ami. On seven Tuesday nights from just after Tisha B’Av (August 12) until just before Rosh Hashanah (October 2)\, we’ll meet to discuss Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg’s On Repentance and Repair\, now available in paperback. The reading will also be keyed to the inner journey through seven core qualities we seek to strengthen as we prepare for the new year. We’ll study Rambam’s writings on teshuvah (c. 1176) alongside R. Danya’s book as we each undertake our own journey of repentance and return. \nThe final class will be held in-person only at CBI on Saturday\, October 12 (Yom Kippur) at 3pm — all are welcome to attend\, even if you didn’t attend any of the previous sessions.
