SUMMARY:Worth a Thousand Words: Spiritual Imagery of the High Holy Days
DESCRIPTION:Join Rabbi Rachel Barenblat (Congregation Beth Israel of the Berkshires) and Rabbi David Markus (Congregation Shir Ami of Greenwich\, CT) for our third annual joint runway to the High Holy Days to prepare heart and soul for the journey of inner transformation! Sessions will be held via Zoom every Tuesday at 7pm (EDT) from July 28 through September 8. \nThis year we’ll immerse in the spiritual imagery of the High Holy Day liturgy – the visions of humanity\, divinity\, morality\, and transcendence that liturgy’s words seek to rouse in us. Visual\, musical\, and poetic renderings will aim to deepen our personal experience of prayer and this season’s ancestral call of teshuvah (repentance\, return). \nTopics will include core liturgies such as Avinu Malkeinu\, Kol Nidre\, Unetaneh Tokef\, Psalm 27\, Avodah (Purification)\, and Neilah. \n\n☆ If you are interested in participating but did not previously register\, please contact Rabbi Rachel as soon as possible. Zoom info will only be sent to those who register in advance. \nRegistration Fee: Free for members of CBI & Shir Ami; $18 per session for non-members. (Non-members can pay online via PayPal — please select “Adult Education Programs” from the dropdown list.)

SUMMARY:Yom Kippur 5787 Break-the-Fast Meal
DESCRIPTION:Please note that the registration deadline for this event has already passed. As this is a catered event\, we will not able to accommodate late RSVPs or walk-ins at this time — thank you for understanding. \nThose who have registered in advance are welcome to join us for a Break-the Fast meal in the social hall following Ne’ilah (~7pm). \n\n☆ As we prepare for Yom Kippur\, please remember that it is forbidden to fast from food and drink on Yom Kippur if so doing would be dangerous to one’s health in any way. For expertise and wisdom on this\, see A Mitzvah to Eat\, specifically their page about Yom Kippur\, which offers resources\, information\, prayers\, and rituals for choosing to eat. As Torah teaches\, “I have put heaven and earth to witness within you this day… Choose life\, that you and your children may live.” (Deut. 30:19)

SUMMARY:NAZA Jewish Community Discussion
DESCRIPTION:After attending the 1:30pm showing of NAZA (2026) at Images Cinema (50 Spring Street in Williamstown\, MA)\, please join Rabbi Rachel Barenblat at CBI beginning at 3:15pm for a conversation about what the film brings up for us\, how we respond to it emotionally and spiritually (and how we respond to each other emotionally and spiritually)\, and where\, as a community\, we hope to go from here. Come prepared to listen as well as to speak and to follow our Israel/Palestine discussion guidelines (below). Hosted by the CBI Israel/Palestine Education Committee. \n☆ Participants are asked to purchase their own ticket to the 1:30pm screening in advance — thank you for understanding. \n\n\nGuidelines for Israel/Palestine Discussion at CBI \n\nPlease use “I-statements” (“I feel / I think / I wonder”) rather than speaking in generalities (“everybody knows…”).\nPlease make space for each other and be mindful of who hasn’t yet spoken.\nAnd please make a practice of allowing disagreements to stand. We are not all going to feel the same way\, and that’s ok. Our purpose is not to convince each other; it’s to learn together and to practice being in community with each other even when we disagree.
